Wiz World Chicago Wrap
Plenty of mainstream comics news came out of this past weekend's WizardWorld Chicago. Here's the highlights:
- Leinil Francis Yu has signed an exclusive with Marvel and will draw an Ultimate Hulk vs. Ultimate Wolverine miniseries.
- Ed Brubaker and Michael Lark will take over Daredevil in February from the departing Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev.
- Kevin Smith confirmed that he finished the scripts to the long-delayed Spider-Man/Black Cat and the remaining issues will see print early next year.
- On the DC side, guests of honor Frank Miller and Jim Lee talked about their plans for All-Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder.
- Other DC panels revealed few new tidbits as the publisher is holding its cards close as Infinite Crisis approaches.
And the Wizard Fan Awards winners were announced. The winners, voted on by fans and readers of the Wizard magazine, are:
- Favorite Writer: Joss Whedon
- Favorite Penciler: John Cassaday
- Favorite Inker: Scott Hanna
- Favorite Painter: Greg Horn
- Favorite Colorist: Laura Martin
- Favorite Letterer: Chris Eliopoulos
- Favorite Editor: Ralph Macchio
- Favorite Male Hero: Wolverine
- Favorite Female Hero: Kitty Pryde
- Favorite Villain: Deathstroke
- Favorite Supporting Character: Nick Fury
- Favorite Ongoing Series: Astonishing X-Men
- Favorite Miniseries: Identity Crisis
- Favorite Publisher: Marvel
- Favorite Comic Merchandise: Batman Utility Belt (DC Direct)
- Favorite Action Figure Line: Marvel Legends
- Favorite Comic Movie Project: "Spider-Man 2"
- Favorite Breakout Talent: Robert Kirkman
- Comics' Greatest Momen 2004: Colossus returns
- Favorite TV Show: "Justice League Unlimited"
- Favorite DVD Release: "LoTR: Return of the King" Platinum…
- Favorite Videogame: Spider-Man 2
For some reason, most sites list a ? for the winner of Favorite One-Shot comic, so it's unclear if there was no award or if everyone reporting on the show was just distracted at that moment.
