So? Samurai, robots and corporate hijinks come together seamlessly in this smart story of a silent warrior who is enlisted to recover a stolen scientific discovery to prevent war between humans and cyborgs.
The script is thoughtful and deliberate and the book looks stunning. The action is thrilling and the art stylish and bold.
It is possible to be too stylish, though, and having a major character in the book speak in vertical lettering is at first distracting, then annoying and eventually a pain to slog through. That’s a relatively minor complaint, though, in an overall satisfying and intriguing debut. Grade: A-
