The rush is on

The doors just swung open to the public at the New York Comic-Con. The floor was crowded most of the day with just press, professionals and exhibitors, so if you're coming to the show Saturday expect it to be tight.

The floor itself is vibrant and the turnout of comics creators has been strong. There's way too many names to list, but there's a lot of faces at this con that are hard to spot at San Diego or don't even make it out to that show.

The panel of note today was a state of the industry panel, which featured big names including Marvel editor in chief Joe Quesada, DC prexy Paul Levitz, Michael Silberkliet of Archie Comics, Stu Levy of TOKYOPOP and Bill Schanes of Diamond. There were few big surprises or secrets revealed, but the common questions everyone agreed need to be answered included the usual issues of distribution to a mass audience, getting kids to read comics and how to keep people reading comics once they start.
