Brody Leads "Predators" Team for Fox

Predator_flemnew In a surprise development, Adrien Brody has been set by 20th Century Fox to play the heroic mercenary who battles alien hunters in “Predators,” a reboot of the “Predator” franchise that is being creatively spearheaded by Robert Rodriguez.

Brody will star with Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walt Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, and Louiz Ozawa.

Brody_fleming Nimrod Antal is directing a film that is about to get underway on location in Hawaii and at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

Fox has set the film for release July 9, 2010.

Best known for his Oscar-winning turn in the Roman Polanski-directed “The Pianist,” Brody has an opportunity to reinvent himself as a flat out action hero, playing a character close to the one that Arnold Schwarzenegger portrayed in the 1987 original.

Brody and his Paradigm reps lobbied hard for the role. Fox has high hopes to spring a new franchise, and Brody has signed options to return for future installments, sources said.

Brody has signed options to return for future installments

There's a spoiler, no threat of death in the first one.

That's an incorrect statement when a future installment could possibly be prequel. Jesus, are we already bickering about prequels and sequels and they haven't even shot a frame (or pixel as the case may be) of this movie yet.

FRIGGEN AWSOME!

Oleg Taktarov the ufc fighter , is this the same guy

Hi. I used to be fat and poor but then I found a job at loseweightandmakemoney.com. I worked and made money but while I was working I also lost weight. It used to be so hard to make money and lose weight but now its so easy. If you are fat and want to lose weight or are poor and want to make money you can like I did. Visit loseweightandmakemoney.com.

wow, this should kill the Predator franchise for good (even if it is a new one). Adrien Brody is just about the least toughest guy that I can think of to play a character fighting predators.

"Brody has an opportunity to reinvent himself as a flat out action hero"
-good luck with that. I don't see it happening.

@bob in regards to Oleg Taktarov the ufc fighter
Yes that is him. He's been in a few other movies too.

Looks like Twentieth Century Fox has thrown the fans and us into a meat grinder after cooking up a story about a pianist award-winner.

Remember what was said about Michael Keaton when he was cast as Batman? Besides, thses kind of movies do not require any acting ability.

This would be his SECOND chance at being an action hero. His first was king Kong. This is another example of "when character actors go bad".

The Oscar freed him up to do things he normally wouldn't or in this case shouldn't...and I like Adrian Brody. I just don't buy him as an action hero no matter how much muscle he packs on.

Brody??? I suppose he can do it. I'll root for him. He's a good actor, but not the first to come to mind for the role.BUT.. since Fox said yes to this, maybe they'll say yes to a "Pianist" reboot, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leading man?

I think this is a good choice for a GOOD predator movie. I've already had a preview of the plot for this film and it is actually quite good. I will keep a close eye on this one. I can see Brody as a badass sniper for some reason. Also the site that had a sneak peak of the script hinted that Arnold would make an appearance in this film as his character from predator 1.

Why they don't just continue the story where Predators 2 left it. I mean, pretend that pva y pva2 never existed.
