What if 'Modern Family' Married 'Cougar Town?'

Anyone can produce a typo, but the Los Angeles Times had one that really made me laugh this morning. In the caption for its article about ABC's Stephen McPherson, it read, "OUTSOURCED: 'Modern Town,' ABC's biggest hit this season, came from a rival network."

Aside from the name change -- imagine if "Cougar Town" married "Modern Family," the actually funny show that precedes it -- there's another screw-up there, inasmuch as the latter is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. So technically, it comes from a rival studio to ABC Studios, not a rival network.

Two potential corrections for one caption is pretty good, though it's hardly in New York Post territory. (Thanks to Jim Romenesko's site for bringing that one to my attention.)

Anyway, we look forward to the other ABC shows that we might see in Times captions this fall, including "Desperate Anatomy," "Dancing With the Cougar," and "Private Makeover."
