No Resurrection: Even Oprah Can't Save Soaps

The ultimate commentary on the demise of soaps, just in time for Easter: Even Oprah can't bring them back from the dead.

It's interesting, though, that the outcry was enough Winfrey felt compelled to go to YouTube and post the video below in order to address pleas that she use her magic powers (or some small part of her fortune) to save the genre.

Frankly, the Oprah Winfrey Network could use the help, but doesn't have the resources necessary to keep the existing shows in production. Maybe OWN should think about acquiring some telenovelas on the cheap and dubbing them. That would at least scratch some of the itch that will be left when Disney phases out SoapNet and "All My Children" and "One Life to LIve" sign off.

Oh, and one more thing to all the "Chuck" fans who keep emailing insisting that the Nielsens are a big fat lie, fearing that their favorite NBC show is finally going to succumb to low ratings: No, Oprah can't save "Chuck," either.
