Limbaugh: 'Everything on Television is Produced'

Aw hell. Rush Limbaugh has gone and spoiled television for the rest of us.

"I have long ago ceased believing anything on television is real. It's not. Everything on television is produced," he said on his show Friday, in a rant about Fox News Channel's performance during Thursday night's Republican presidential debate, "including so-called reality shows."

Gee, Rush, what's next? Are you going to tell us there's no Easter Bunny or Santa Claus, too? Killjoy.

But he's right, of course, though wrong on his point. Yes, the questioners worked on what they were going to ask the candidates in advance. So what? The issue is how the candidates perform, and what their responses are.

For all that, the debate did offer both Fox News' Chris Wallace and Bret Baier a chance to exhibit a touch of independence, and the condemnation from Limbaugh only reinforces the notion that they're really more "fair and balanced" than the primetime hosts.

It almost makes you think the whole thing was a set-up, right? Because like Rush, I don't believe anything I see on TV -- or hear coming from someone who spends half their time trying to sell me gold on talkradio.
