Sony Launches In-Game Auction Site

I saw this the other day, and finally let out a **sigh** of relief. Sony announced it was setting up an auction site for its players to sell digital products for actual money.

The best part about this, as the article points out, is that Sony has been one of the more repressive companies when it comes to cracking down on the underground trade that had developed.

(side note: after all this time, can we all get together and agree that anytime you try to completely stop something that people want to do -- the people will find a way to do it, regardless of the consequence?)

For game companies looking for ways to generate new revenue streams, I'm shocked that it has taken Sony this long to get in the game. After all, EverQuest and Star Wars players are of the devoted kind. They spend long hours interacting with their chosen games. So, why not tap into that? It never made much sense to me.
