Video Games Spur Art
I meant to post this last week. CNN has an interesting piece about artists using video game technologies to create art. I moderated a panel a few years ago at the South by Southwest Interactive Conference about living in the "cultural gutter," which is essentially what this piece is about.
When you deal in popular culture, people will show some interest, but there is always that moment when, in their eyes, you can seem them look at you in a sad way, as if you've somehow decided to waste your life.
From the article:
"Everyone bitches that games are not art, so let's show them otherwise," said John Gibson, curator of an irreverent Hollywood show of art inspired by nostalgia for the classic era of gaming -- all of 15 years ago.
