Destroy All Humans

I do find myself wandering off course sometimes while I'm writing this blog, although I usually try to find my way back to the topic at hand (namely, the convergence of the music, movie and video game industries). I'm not sure today will qualify though.

A few days ago, I came across a preview for Playstation 2 game called Destroy All Humans, a send-up of B-movie sci-fi flicks.

Of course, I have been playing it for a week. It's addictive and fun, even though there is a certain repetition since it's only a preview. The funny thing, from my perspective, is that until I read this article on Reuters today, I didn't even realize it was a PS2 game (despite it being advertised on the site -- I was too busy playing).

The Reuters piece made an interesting point, though, that the wave of publicity for Steven Speilberg's War of the Worlds may actually translate into spill-off publicity for Destroy All Humans.

For me, having seen the original Worlds, I'm far more interested in getting my hands on the game than going to see movie. But, I found the game site because I was tooling around looking for information on the movie (thank you keyword search and Google).
