Nintendo Will Not Support HD Games
I touched on this a bit last week, but this report from Game Cube Advanced -- which quotes Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo of America's vice president of corporate affairs -- verifying that while Microsoft and Sony will push into the HD market, Nintendo's next-gen game console will not play HD games.
For those who have written me, telling me that I didn't know what I was talking about, this is where that information is coming from:
Nintendo doesn't plan for the system to be HD compatible as with that comes a higher price for both the consumer and also the developer creating the game.
The move is hardly surprising, given Nintendo's desire to maintain its game margins, while allowing Sony and Microsoft to push the edge of technology. If HD gaming takes off, I fully anticipate that Nintendo's next machine will take advantage of it.
