First music film shot entirely on mobile phones

Summer_2Is "Shoot The Summer" the first full-length concert film made using mobile phones? Probably. Produced by the UK's Radio 1, "Shoot The Summer" is comprised of mobile-phone footage shot at music festivals by audience members as well as bands such as Wombats and Black Kids. (Click here for footage.) The hour-long film had its premiere Wednesday night at the BBC's annual music festival, Electric Proms, and is now available online. [BBC]

Lipstick on a pig: Sarah Palin as ringtone

PalinMobile applications creator FunMobility has turned six of Gov. Sarah Palin's "most memorable quotes" into free ringtones. Some are clips extracted from her interviews with Katie Couric; others include "Palin's interpretation of the Bush Doctrine" and "a mashup of hockey, Barack and pigs." They're available for download here; the Pleasanton, Calif.-based FunMobility promises "many more to be added weekly." [BusinessWire]

CBS and the pornification of citizen journalism

Cbseyemobile100108bigWith the launch of CBSeyemobile.com, CBS has discovered that citizen journalism is harder than it looks. However, the problem doesn't lie in the technology. Writes Michael Learmonth, "Karl Johnson, chief operating officer of BrandContent, a Boston-based agency, uploaded the app last night and saw a picture of a young woman bent over her kitchen stove, her skirt hiked up. Later he saw video of three women performing sexual acts on one another." However, at least the ad network is on board: Google was advertising on the clips via AdMob. [AdAge]
