TCA: Starz feels weight of "Gravity"

Starz showed off a few minutes of its dark comedy "Gravity," about a motley group of people who are in a support group for suicide-attempt survivors.

The show, created by Eric Schaeffer and Jill Franklyn, looks intriguing, and it looks well-endowed with a strong cast that includes Ivan Sergei, Ving Rhames, Schaeffer and Krysten Ritter, fresh off "Breaking Bad."

Franklyn, a "Seinfeld" alum, told the scribes that she conceived the show during a dark period in her life, when the WGA was on strike and even her dog was dying.

"I starting thinking about random ways of offing myself," she said, adding quickly that she wasn't ever actually suicidal but just allowing herself the artistic license to dwell on dark thoughts. "And I came up with a name for each random way, and they became the characters - and all of a sudden there was a show," she said.
