PILOTS: Tom Welling, Hayden Panettiere add "CW producer" to their credits

Welling-tom-photo-tom-welling-6227450"Smallville" star Tom Welling and "Heroes" thesp Hayden Panettiere have lined up pilot presentation orders at the CW -- but as behind-the-scene producers.

Welling has teamed with Kevin Murphy ("Reaper"), who is the writer behind "Hellcats."

Murphy EPs the project, which centers on the world of competitive college cheerleading, along with Welling. (The CW describes it as "Election" meets "Bring It On." May we add, perhaps, "Glee" minus the singing?)

Warner Bros. TV and CBS TV Studio are behind the show, along with the Tom Welling Co. Superman's all grown up!

Also at the C-Dub, "HMS" comes from scribe/exec producer Amy Holden Jones and Panettiere, who's on board as a co-EP.

HaydenPanettiere  "HMS" centers on the "sexy freshman class" at Harvard Medical School (who knew?!) as the embark on their new lives. Show is told through the pespective of a young woman adjusting to her new surroundings. (Dare we call it "Sexy Scrubs"?)

Warner Bros. TV and CBS TV Studios are behind "HMS."

Then there's "Betwixt," based on the novel of the same name, about urban "changelings" who are responsible for keeping evil away from humans.

Elizabeth Chandler is writer and exec producer on "Betwixt," while Paul Stupin is also exec producer. CBS TV Studios and Warner Bros. TV are the studios.

("Betwixt" was given a full pilot pickup.)
