It's a Betty White world: Top-rated "SNL" since November 2008 election episode

The early results are in, and it took an 88-year-old for "Saturday Night Live" to post its best numbers since its stellar Election 2008 performance. Demos, shmemos.

Betty White's "SNL" episode averaged an 8.8 household rating and 21 share among the 56 metered markets -- the best since the show's Nov. 1, 2008 edition (9.0/20). That seg, hosted by Ben Affleck and featuring an appearance by John McCain, ran right before the election.

White was also a big demo hit in the 25 local people meter markets, averaging a 5.1 rating and 20 share with adults 18-49 -- also the best since Nov. 1, 2008 (5.2/18).

"SNL," which featured musical guest Jay-Z, was easily the top-rated program of the night.

The episode earned high marks from critics -- and even sketches that ended up being cut for time are gaining a following online. Above, Rachel Dratch revives her popular character "Debbie Downer."
