Yankees' pinstripes coming to you in 3D

DirecTV is beating Fox Sports to the punch by three days, airing the first Major League Baseball game in 3D.Alex

Satellite provider will telecast the Yankees-Mariners games July 10-11 from Seattle and will be available for viewers who have 3D-compatible TV sets. Production will be provided by the YES Network in the New York tri-state area and cabler Fox Sports Net Northwest in that part of the country.

Fox airs the All-Star Game from Anaheim, Calif., July 13 and that, as well, will be available on 3D.

“Like interactive TV and HD, 3D has the potential to completely transform the way we watch sports,” said DirecTV topper Eric Shanks.

ESPN offered college football in 3D last season with the Ohio State-USC game and is readying to televise the upcoming World Cup from South African in June and July in 3D as well.
