EXCLUSIVE: TLC gets into the taxidermy business
TLC is looking to stuff its schedule with a previously untapped reality subject: Taxidermy.
Reality net has signed on with producer Stiletto Television for a late fall special that will act as a backdoor pilot for an upcoming series. Untitled hourlong special will examine different taxidermists around the country and focus on their craft and the animals they work with, including everything from domestic pets to an African elephant.
Exec producers for Stiletto are Mark Grove, Garry Kief and Troy Queen.
TLC, whose shows normally focus on mainstream and family friendly topics such as food, weddings and fashion, have gone a bit more rogue as of late. Prior to taking on taxidermy, cabler premiered “Strange Sex” Sunday. Six-part series examines all aspects of sexuality, including fetishes and unusual practices.

Variety's Team TV -- Cynthia Littleton, Stu Levine, Jon Weisman, Andrew Wallenstein and A.J. Marechal -- provides a roundup of stories big and small, as well as opinions and analysis from across the TV dial.
