Nick's 'Fairly OddParents' to become live-action film
"The Fairly OddParents" will come to life in a live-action TV movie for Nickelodeon starring channel veteran Drake Bell with Jason Alexander and Cheryl Hines.
"A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner" finds Bell ("Drake & Josh") playing a 23-year-old Timmy (compared to the 10-year-old from the animated series version), who hopes to hang onto his fairy godparents. Alexander and Hines, last seen together on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," play the live-action version of godparents Cosmo and Wanda, who are voiced by Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee in their animated version.
Timmy is soon torn, however, when a grown-up Tootie (Daniella Monet, "Victorious") returns to town and tempts him with her grownupitude. Steven Weber plays a villain in the film.
"OddParents" premiered on Nick in 2001 and continues to be a high-performing property among kids 2-11, while also attracting a majority of its viewership from older demos.
Series creator Butch Hartman will exec produce with Lauren Levine, with Savage Steve Holland directing. Hartman and former series writer Scott Fellows are scripting.
“I think fans of the series will love seeing the characters in this new way,” said Hartman. “Our mix of live-action and special effects animation will make them look ‘hyper-real,’ and our goal is to make this movie as visually exciting as it will be funny.”

Why. Just why.
You're milked this series dry, and now all you're doing is grinding the dust for one final EPIC FAIL.
Obviously the show has lost its luster, so how exactly is this going to help?
For once I wish my childhood television shows would die in peace, instead of turning into junk like this.
R.I.P. Fairly Oddparents

Wow.
. . .
Really?
SERIOUSLY?
You know, after Shamahack's Airbender thing, I had a feeling that there would be another conversion to live action.
I just thought it would be something more realistic. And cooler.
Like Danny Phantom. Or Jimmy Neutron.
Or something.
