For the first time ever, Univision wins the week in adults 18-49

Don't tell Arizona: Spanish-lingo net Univision just pulled off its first-ever week-long win among adults 18-49.

Granted, it was a low-viewership Labor Day holiday week. But it still reps a major milestone for Univision -- and a reminder that demographics are indeed changing in this country.

Why the Univision surge? Beyond the holiday-fueled low viewership at the English nets, Univision notes that this past weekend featured a strong Fútbol Liga Mexicana (Mexico vs. Ecuador) soccer game on Saturday night and the finale of “Desafío: La Gran Batalla,” which "was a bit higher than its average Sunday night performance, despite airing on a holiday weekend."

Univision was also up 27% year to year in the demo, thanks also to hot telenovelas “Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe” (For Love or Money) and “Soy Tu Dueña” (Woman of Steel). Caliente!

Here are some more Univision stats:

Univision was the #1 broadcast network among A18-49, A18-34 and K2-11.

Univision was the #1 network in prime among A18-49 for an entire week FOR THE FIRST TIME in the network’s history.

Univision was #1 among A18-34 for an entire week for the 14th time.

Univision ranked #4 among P2+ beating FOX and CW

Univision delivered 8 of the Top 10 programs in overall primetime among Adults 18-34, and 9 of the Top 20 programs among Adults 18-49.

Here's how Univision did in total viewers, even beating out Fox:
