James Cameron to infiltrate Alphabet lineup
James Cameron is coming to ABC.
The “Avatar” and “Titanic” director will exec produce a smallscreen version of his 1994 pic “True Lies” for the Alphabet. Project, from 20th Century Fox and with a penalty attached, is being written by Rene Echevarria, who will also serve as showrunner.
“True Lies,” which starred California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and grossed $380 million worldwide, puts ABC back in the spy game. Net had long success with J.J. Abrams drama “Alias” and is looking for the next franchise hit with “Lost” gone and “Desperate Housewives” and “Grey’s Anatomy” on the tail end of their runs.
