Fox's Shawn Ryan cop drama 'Ride-Along' is now 'The Chicago Code'
And no, the show isn't suddenly about a group of bureaucrats re-writing the Windy City's fire, electrical, plumbing and building ordinances... OR IS IT?
Network and studio opted to change the title after "Ride-Along" didn't test well -- as audiences likely didn't get the police reference of going on a "Ride-Along." Although "The Chicago Code" sounds a tad more generic at first whiff, it does play up the Windy City-ness of the show -- and Ryan has made it clear that his native Chicagoland will play a big role in the show.
Ryan has reason to be concerned about titles. It's now widely held that his well-received FX drama "Terriers" has been hampered by its confusing title.
And no. "The Chicago Code" is also not about Chicagoland's ever-increasing number of area codes.
