'Jersey Shore' wraps up season with 6.1 million

“Jersey Shore” closed out its second season with 6.1 million viewers tuning in, according to Nielsen.Mtv-jersey-shore-snookijpg-6dc7c9fdd0f32b8f_large

It’s not the biggest number of all time — 6.7 million watched the Sept. 30 episode — but with these kinds of figures, expect MTV to air all things Snooki for years to come. Like “The Hills,” the phenomenon will eventually pass, but it may be awhile.

The season two premiere drew 5.3 million, which was about 500,000 more who watched the season one finale.

For those already going through “Jersey Shore” withdrawl, the new season starts up Jan. 6. And the gang is back in the Garden State this time, saying goodbye to Miami and hello to Seaside Heights.
