CBS develops 'Raising Men' comedy

Howtoraisemen

A second project has sprung from the work of author and journo A.J. Jacobs, this time at CBS.

Eye is developing the half-hour comedy “Raising Men,” based on Jacobs’ magazine article “How to Raise Men,” which ran in the June 2010 issue of Esquire. Aron Abrams and Gregory Thompson will write.

NBC is already developing a comedy based on Jacobs’ 2009 book “The Guinea Pig Diaries: My Life as an Experiment.” Jacobs is an editor-at-large at Esquire.

“Raising Men” centers on a father who learns how to be truly masculine from his sons.

Project comes from Samuel L. Jackson’s UppiTV shingle, which is also experiencing a prolific development season, landing projects at Showtime and the CW in addition to CBS.

CBS TV Studios, where UppiTV is set up, will produce.

Abrams and Thompson, who are currently consulting producers on Fox’s upcoming “Bob’s Burgers,” will exec produce along with Jackson. Amanda Tracey is co-exec producer.

It does seem as though people who have brushes with death change their behavior in significant ways. Really truth.
