FIRST LOOK: 'Take Two with Phineas and Ferb'

Disney Channel's "Phineas and Ferb" long ago morphed into much more than just a kid-centric toon. And this week, half-brothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher go beyond the Tri-State area to host their own, real talk show.

"Take Two with Phineas and Ferb" bows Dec. 3 with inaugural guest Jack Black. Like the 1990s Cartoon Network series "Space Ghost Coast to Coast," the shorts will pair cartoon characters with slightly flummoxed celebrity guest stars.

Disney Channel ordered an initial ten shorts, which run about two minutes each. Other guests in the run include Andy Samberg, Seth Rogen, Taylor Swift, Tony Hawk, Randy Jackson and Regis Philbin.

"Take Two" caps a big year for the duo, whose primary goal remains finding an adventure for each of the 104 days of summer vacation. This year "Phineas and Ferb" won a Daytime Emmy for outstanding writing in animation; the show also released a Christmas special and threw out the first pitch at a Dodgers game. Jon Stewart even recently gave the show a wider presence by making a Dr. Doofenshmirtz impersonation while guesting on the "Rachel Maddow Show."

"That was one of my proudest moments, seeing Jon Stewart doing his impression of me," said Dan Povenmire, who voices the villain, and also created "Phineas and Ferb" with Jeff "Swampy" Marsh.

Povenmire said the idea for "Take Two" came from the Disney Channel, which asked the producers to come up with a concept that married "Phineas and Ferb" with live action stars.

Next up, a made-for-TV full-length "Phineas and Ferb" movie is set to debut on the Disney Channel next August.

Above, here's your first look at "Take Two with Phineas and Ferb." And below, check out Samberg on the set with Povenmire and Marsh.
