More 'Luther' in production in U.K., but BBC America decision awaits
The season-one finale of "Luther" airs Sunday on BBC America, and though the Idris Elba/Ruth Wilson combo is back in production for more in the U.K., a spokesperson for BBC America said that it will be a month or two before the cabler decides whether more "Luther" will be aired Stateside.
The first three episodes of the six-episode first season (a thriller in my eyes) averaged 230,000 viewers (live + 7) for BBC America, which might not sound encouraging at first, but represents a 42% increase relative to BBC America's primetime average. By comparison, "Luther" drew 6.35 million viewers for its May 4 premiere on the U.K.'s BBC1, before settling into the 4 million range.
The next batch of "Luther," a BBC and BBC America co-production distributed by BBC Worldwide, has actually been commissioned as two two-hour movies for the U.K. Neil Cross created the series and has written every episode.

Not sure how to go about seeking a 2nd season and I normally do not try to seek out how to. I just watched on Netflix and "Wow!" this show is amazing. Complicated characters intriguing story lines...one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Would love to see more,... so please continue!!

LUTHER -- certainly one of the best shows on TV, and I do love LAW & ORDER: UK, but LUTHER is something to really look forward to seeing, and that just does not happen any more. All characters are completely fleshed out and interesting. The acting is superb. Please, please do not keep us in the dark here. I've watched first season twice. There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- on nightly commercial TV. OK, THE OFFICE is good. But that's about it. And there is also very little to capture my interest on any of the premium channels. Please do not deprive us of LUTHER, Season Two. It's great TV.

I hope BBCA continues this program it is a complete masterpiece. Idris Elba is phenomenal and his potrayal is iconic. BBCA you have to continue this.

Watching tv series and movies is my hobby, I just love stories. I can assure you that I've never seen such wonderful character development in a series as with Luther. This is a great series, and it would be a great lost to tv if there wasn't a second season, one more thing, don't ruin the series by converting it an American version, were already have Dexter. Thanks

I had never heard of the series until the Golden Globe Nominations came out. I have a secret crush on Mr. Elba. I purchased the first season on Itunes and watched it all in one night. It makes for some great tv. I hope they do in deed bring it back. He deserved the recognition. That man is soo sexy and talented. his Swagger is ridiculous.

Wow, I just watched all six episodes online. It's a great show. I'm hoping BBCA will bring it back. There are not enough good shows on. Take off the reality tv crap and put more shows on like Luther.

My husband and I enjoyed it as well. In fact bought on ITunes so we could see the whole thing. Would definately watch any more that you make. Loved Wire in the Blood and did not know anything about it until cancelled so would like to prevent another great show from being cancelled.

Absolutely brilliant, well developed and complex, by far one of the best crime dramas this year and hopefully more to come.

I too Loved each and every one of the shows of Luther and join in asking that BBC America pick it up and air it stateside. For my liking you can take away the Musical stuff. Not worth watching. But BBC has a number of show that should be aired stateside. Luther, Skins, Mistresses, etc. The Andrew Lloyd Webber stuff is rubbish and I for one could give it a miss. I prefer Luther and the others. In fact, please air stateside some of your real shows. Sick to death of Doctor Who as well.

Loved loved loved this show! Please, BBC America, bring it back. I so miss the wonderful British crime shows of which Law and Order UK is the only one now, and Luther was so much better.
