Rickles to receive Carson kudo at Comedy Awards

Rickles
Don Rickles will receive the Johnny Carson Award For Comedic Excellence at this year's edition of "The Comedy Awards," which will be taped April 28 in New York for air May 6 on Comedy Central. Jon Stewart will make the presentation.

Rickles, who is being honored for 55 years of comedy — including more than 100 appearances on Carson's "The Tonight Show" — is the second recipient of the award, following David Letterman in 2011.

Rickles has said he believes his breakthrough moment as a performer came with his first appearance on "Tonight" in October 1965.
