It was bound to happen: A smartphone film contest
Given the growing megapixel count and video capabilities of
smartphones, it was only a matter of time before we saw a filmmaking
competition around the device. Now Cinequest and SanDisk have teamed up to create
one.
20 filmmakers from Cinequest’s 20th anniversary film festival are competing in the inaugural event, vying for $5,000.
The general public will act as judge and jury – voting on whichever entry they think should win. Two people will get T-Moibile Mytouch 3G smart phones, while 24 runners up will get an 8GB SanDisk mobile memory card.
The films were made using a video-capable mobile phone around the theme “Discover”. (Entrants can be found at http://www.youtube.com/sandisk.) Voting lasts until Feb. 16.
