EA, Spielberg cancel joint gaming project

Legendary director Steven Spielberg has had a long working relationship with Electronic Arts, but sometimes not everything works out as planned. Spielberg

The company has cancelled the long-stalled game code-named LMNO, according to former EA developer Jake Kazdal, who worked on the project for 2.5 years before its cancellation. (Kazdel made the announcement on the 8-4 Play podcast.)

The reason for the cancellation is a bit murky, but seems to have come down to internal politics and another title that had similar qualities. Questions have revolved around the game since the 2008 shutdown of Blueprint Studios, an internal EA group that was working on “LMNO” – despite EA’s statements that the game was still under development.

An EA spokesperson told Joystiq the game has been cancelled, but EA and Spielberg continue to work together on other projects.
