Report: Arrests made in PlayStation Network attack

Police in Spain have arrested a trio of hackers who officials say could be a part of the recent attacks on Sony's PlayStation Network.

Reuters reports the three suspected members of the loose hacker alliance known as Anonymous are being charged with cyber-attacks against Sony, governments , businesses and banks.

Police have not ruled out further arrests – and have not specifically fingered these individuals as being responsible for the theft of personal information from over 100 million user accounts.

That party or parties, of course, is the real catch in this. If the people arrested in Spain were just part of the contingent who launched a DDoS attack on the company's servers, then they're likely just unwitting pawns in the scheme. Sony has not made any public statement about the arrests.

The cyber attack on Sony shut down the company's online network for its popular game system and kicked off what have become a series of attacks on the company. The lasting effects don't seem to have been too permanent, though, as the company revealed this week that network traffic is now 90 percent what it was before the hacking.
