HBO Go headed to consoles

Time Warner's ready to give HBO Go a bigger push. Hbogo-2

CEO Jeff Bewkes, in an earnings call with analysts this morning, said the pay network's TV Everywhere service would be expanding its footprint beyond smartphones and tablets – soon adding Internet connected televisions and video game consoles to its roster.

File this under "Well, duh."

Bewkes didn't give any specifics for the new platforms, but both are natural fits. Netflix has seen incredible success by embracing both platforms and Hulu is looking to expand its reach following the same path. It was only a matter of time before HBO did the same

The apps, so far, have been pretty successful, boasting 4 million downloads since their launch earlier this year. HBO subscribers, of course, can watch a thorough catalog of the network's film and original programming offerings via HBO Go. Non-subscribers who access the app can simply browse the available programs and watch clips and previews.
