Ghostbusters looks likely to suvive the Activision Blizzard axe
As I recently wrote, plenty of titles in development at Sierra are likely to never see the light of day now that the Activision Blizzard exec team (which is pretty much all Activision folks) is surveying the development slate and handpicking the projects they want to keep and turn into franchises.
But it's looking good for "Ghostbusters." Why? Apparently the game has a big presence at Comic-Con, complete with booth babes (thanks for the picture, Kotaku). Though Vivendi Games probably booked this booth before the merger, ActiBlizzard (I just can't call it Blactivision, for PC reasons) was apparently cool with spending the money and keeping the booth going. Not only would spending this money on a booth and game demos and cleavage a waste if it's not coming out, but it's really bad PR, to the point of cruelty to the fans, to show off a game at Comic-Con and then not release it in the fall as promised. So things look safe for this franchise.
Sierra's other big game for the fall, "Brutal Legend," apparently doesn't have a presence at Comic-Con (correct me if I'm wrong please, attendees), which is probably a sign that ActiBlizzard is at least questioning the game's future.

Wait up, Benny boy - you're being awfully presumptuous here about what games are under threat at Blactivision. 'It's really bad PR, to the point of cruelty to the fans, to show off a game at Comic-Con and then not release it in the fall as promised. So things look safe for this franchise.'?
Was it ever under the axe in the first place? No. It's too far along in development. Non story, really. It's the number of unannounced projects that get canned which is the real story. And it'll probably be everything non-Blizzard Vivendi had in the works given the company's general mediocrity.

I'm glad to hear this is escaping the axe, but admittedly, I hadn't been aware it was potentially under the axe.
