Warcraft / Lord of the Rings giveaway
One thing I most certainly don't have right now is the time to invest in a MMO. So opening my brand spanking new shrink wrapped editions of "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich king Collector's Edition" and "Lord of the Rings Online Collector's Edition" would be a total waste. Especially when there are Cut Scene readers who would probably go crazy for this stuff.
So, it's my Thanksgiving giveaway. First, for those who don't know, here's exactly what you get in each:
-Wrath of the Lich King collector's edition: the game for PC or Mac; behind-the-scenes DVD (developer intervieews; cinematic with commentary, etc.); 208 page "Art of Wrath of the Lich King" book; "World of Warcraft" trading card game starter pack and exclusive cards; Northrend mouse pad; exclusive in-game pet: Frosty, the undead dragon.
-Lord of the Rings Online collector's edition: Original "Shadows of Angmar" game and the "Mines of Moria" expansion pack; 30 days free play; 3 in-game item tokens; "Mines of Moria" cloth map; gold plated replica of "the one ring"; "LOTRO" art and music compilation; starter guide; "and more!" (hey, I'm just reading the back of the box)
Want to win? Leave a comment with the following:
-Which game you want (you can't ask for both, or just "either one")
-Tell me why you want it. Are you a "Warcraft" lover who can't afford "Lich King" right now? Is there a "Lord of the Rings" fanatic in your life who needs an awesome gift? Be sure to make a compelling case for why you deserve it
-Tell me, briefly, why you read the Cut Scene and what your favorite post, or type of posts, have been. There's no wrong answer. "I enjoy laughing at your pathetically bad writing" is even OK. It's just my way of trying to make sure the winners are people who regularly read this blog, not folks who just dropped in for the contest.
I'll pick the winners on Monday based on who followed the rules and made the most compelling case for they they deserve the game.
Just a reminder, you can't win if I know you or if you've won a Cut Scene giveaway before.

I do not think that this two things can be compared. But everyone has his own opinion. I understand.

I would like WoW:WotLK
The reason why is for a gift for a good friend of mine. Hes a complete nut about WoW, all day and night its always something about WoW. It drives me insane, but hes my friend so I listen. But recently he lost his job due to the economy and so hes pretty much broke. Oddly enough it happenend around the time of launch. So when I heard you were giving away the Lich King expansion I said hell, I will give it a shot. It will be something he would love for Christmas.
I have read the Cut Scene articles for a while now. Its actually part of my home page when I start up my internet. I look forward to something new with you guys. What makes your news more unique than anyone else is you get information that others cant get. Thats what makes you guys top notch.

I would like the LotRO collector's edition, please.
I am a third year law student trying to keep my sanity, and spending some time in Middle Earth could help me out with that. Also, one of my areas of interest is virtual worlds, and this would give me the opportunity to explore a new one. Oh, and also, I wants it my precious.
I read the Cut Scene because it is the only blog out there that treats the video game business in context of the larger entertainment business. I enjoy licensing issues, and Cut Scene has the best coverage of these issues. I love the articles that talk about what deals are happening.

I'd love the "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich king Collector's Edition," WoW:WotLKCE for short?! I've played Warcraft, Starcraft, Warcraft II and Warcraft III all the way through (both human and orc and all three races in Starcraft), but I haven't succumbed to the temptation of WoW yet. I'm a dad and seldom do I get to have any new toys/games.
You enjoy GTA, right? You've always dreamed of being a crack dealer, haven't you? Here's your chance. Set me up! You know I'll appreciate it (even though it's possible my family won't).
I'm most interested in the Cut Scene posts that deal with the business machinations of the game biz. Also, your recent diatribe on criticism, innovation and Mirror's Edge has been an interesting discussion (and caused me to read several other blogs, so arguably you've cost me extra time lately, which, of course I won't spend at all, if I win the WoW:WotLKCE giveaway).

Sure Scott. I love my readers around the world and I can ship stuff overseas (it just takes a little longer).

I would like the copy of Mines of Moria.
I worked at Turbine from '03 - '05 and got to run demos of LOTRO at E3 2005. Unfortunately I was laid off when Turbine closed their Los Angeles studio. I bought a lifetime subscription to LOTRO as part of my pre-order because I love Tolkien, I love -- err, loved, at the time -- MMOs, and I wanted to support my friends still at the office.
Unfortunately I barely have time to play games right now and haven't played much -- er, at all -- of LOTRO despite my lifetime membership. But since it's all paid for, it doesn't go to waste, right?
I'd like the Mines copy because I hope it would inspire me to play more of this great game. And also I want to continue to support my friends at Turbine, this time hopefully by creating a better in-game environment. (Pretty cocky, eh?)
I'm a pretty new reader of The Cut Scene. I found you through one of your articles about Brash Entertainment. I currently work at Seven Studios and have a Google Alert set for "Six Flags Fun Park" -- your column either came up that way, or was linked by an article that came up that way. I really like your writing style and I'm seeing information appear first in your blog before getting picked up by everyone and their mother.

- I want WoW:WotLK
- I am an extremely poor graduate student who has jones for WoW:WotLK and will put the game to good use over winter break. I have played the game since launch, but have been on hiatus since I started grad school.
- I am new to Cut Scene, I added it a few weeks ago based on a Google Reader recommendation. I subscribe for posts that discuss the business of video games, more so than about the games themselves.
