Gears, Bioshock, Rolando, Home schwag giveaway

Got some schwag accumulated during the holidays crowding up my cubicle (now even smaller since Variety moved offices, meaning there's less room to store junk). That means it's time for a blog giveaway. The rules are below. Here are the prizes:

GearsTank Gears of War 2 remote control Centaur Tank. Keep in mind mom and/or dad: The toy is fine for anyone over 8, but the game's rated M! If you've over 17, though, keep this in mind: You are an adult trying to win a remote-controlled tank.

PSHome Playstation Home t-shirt. Advertise your love for a videogame virtual world in which you can do stuff... soon. I've got two of these bad boys, both in XL.

Rolando "Rolando" t-shirt. This apparel advertising ngmoco's new iPhone game featuring adorable little rolling balls (not to be confused with Sony's trademarked "Loco Roco."  Shame on you for even thinking that!) features the logo way down on the bottom left, so you know it's cool. XL only, so if you're short, the logo will be around your hip.

Littlesister Little Sister figurine from "Bioshock." For that special daughter or niece you want to give nightmares to.

How do you win? Easy. Leave a comment with the following two features in it:
-Tell me what item you want and why. If you have a good reason, I'm more likely to give it to you.
-Mention some Cut Scene post you have read in the past and why you liked it, or didn't like it. Just my way of making sure winners are people who have been to the blog before, or are taking the time to poke around.

Restrictions on winning:
-You can't have fun a Cut Scene schwag giveaway before.
-I can't know you
-Don't be greedy or indecisive. Choose one item you want and ask for it. If you ask for more than one, you don't get any.

Post your comments by Wednesday night. I'll pick a winner by the end of the week

I'm a bit late, but I'll give it a go nevertheless.

I'd love the Little Sister figurine, since Bioshock one of my favourite games and one of the most stylish games in many years. Plus the Little Sister is just so deliciously creepy that she would be a good match for my Vault Boy bobble head. He likes those freaky women (plus I deserve to win for knowing that's he's not called PIP Boy :D).

My favourite Cut Scene article was the one about Colonization. Not because it was the best you've written, but because you took a stand, dared to voice a controversial opinion and because it was the one that caused the most stir and discussion - and discussion IS what it's all about at the end of the day.

Chris

I'd love the Gears of War tank? Why? Because I would love to terrorize people around the office. Also, working in the gaming industry, my PIP Boy bobble head is so lonely next to my Atari 2600 and TG16. With some duct tape, PIP is going to wreak havoc on the people on the lower level.

I honest and for true wanted to say that the story on Brash's closing was my favourite story. It was the story that got me into subscribing to this blog. It also helped instill fear into me as I am fairly new in the game industry.

Lately though, I'd say the article on the NES in The Wrestler was interesting. I must be dense as I'd never really noticed the connection between it and the narrative. Interesting find.

I forgot to mention my favourite post, so here goes:

I really loved the series of reports following Brash's demise. Probably because it was actual -journalism-, whereas most gaming news sites are simply press release aggregators.

Zack, Man

I'd actually really like to win the Little Sister figurine or the Gears tank, but I think the previous posters deserve them more than I do. So I'll request one of the XL Home T-shirts and give it to someone I hate. Who is also fat.

My favorite Cut Scene item was the one where Ben decided to give away some cool gaming shwag to people who commented:

http://weblogs.variety.com/the_cut_scene/2009/01/gears-bioshock-rolando-home-schwag-giveaway.html

That one ruled.

G-Man

I would like to try for the 'Gears 2' tank.

Even though I am an adult vying for the ownership rights of a toy tank, is wanting it all that different from reveling in the immature glory of the 'Gears' series?

Therefore, my shame is non-existent, and I would totally put aluminum foil rims on it. ;)

As much as I appreciate the amount of reporting you have done (Brash, Midway, the business side of deals, etc.), the most enjoyable piece I have read has to be the Mickey Mouse story one:

http://weblogs.variety.com/the_cut_scene/2008/11/brash-the-micke.html

That is too hilarious.

Can I have the Little Sister? She'd go well with my Big Daddy.

Wow, that's the creepiest-sounding thing I've ever written.

But yeah, I just started working in a gaming company's Quality Assurance department and everyone else has cool gaming tchotchkes on their desk. I need to catch up.

Also I spent about ten minutes looking for the correct spelling of "tchotchke", so hopefully that counts for something.

Thanks, keep up the great blog.
