Escape to Eskandar (NYC)
Devout fans of London-based designer Eskandar will no longer have to suffer the company of Bergdorf Blondes to stock up on his sophisticated separates and home accessories. The designer, formerly sold only at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf, will celebrate the opening of his first U.S. boutique tonight. His entire line, including exclusives like embroidered linens, will be available at the Greenwich Village flagship. 33 E. 10th St., (212) 533-4200

I personally have never minded the Bergdorf blondes. It is the obnoxious manager (Meryl), who, as Eskandar himself knows, is disliked by about half the clients, who has kept me shopping at the Paris store or at Neiman- or at Sonia Rykiel, where the welcome is warmer.

i love meryl...i met her on a trip from colorado where i live to new york....she IS a character..and is unfailingly helpful and friendly...remembering my requests for long periods of time and finding me hard to find items...i don't need to be courted...only good, professional service...meryl does it..

Being a "character" to me means having some kind of eccentric, but lovable qualities. There is absolutely nothing lovable about Meryl. She is grumpy and unprofessional. Try Paxil or SOMETHING, Meryl.

Shu Uemura's Gold Standard Rumor has it the CEO of Sephora often credits his company’s fortune to sales of Shu Uemura’s eyelash curler. Yes, the miracle tool is just that dominant and it's commemorating 15 years on the beauty scene with a 24-carat version. A luxe case also comes with the upgraded curler, which started out as a makeup-artist fave and has since landed in the cosmetics bags of in-the-know beauty buffs everywhere. $37,
