Top Brass
Doorknobs. Light fixtures. Knockers, yes. But brass is generally not the metal of choice when it comes to fine jewelry. Now Draugsvold jewelry is redefining the medium with its handmade Garland necklace, a plunging creation of vintage brass link chains and a quarter-size chalcedony stone. The lyrical trio of hummingbirds makes this gem the kind of piece you plan your outfit around, and not vice versa. $175, girlshop.com

The Gifted Ones
After former producer Valerie Belsky and her friends each received three to five iPods last December, she decided something had to be done with the stale gifting biz and the Art of the Gift was born. The just-launched company is already culling its unique, beautifully crafted selections (think Japanese tea caddies, killer BBQ sets, hand-blown perfume bottles) for a pending deal with NBC. And the best part: Belsky keeps a tracking system so Halle or Kirsten never get the same present twice. artgiftla.com

Meditate on this: Your at-home yoga routine, clunky props and all, doesn't have to interfere with the sleek digs you've been perfecting over the years scouring design mags. Affordable Adornment
You don’t need a credit line like Kimora Lee Simmons’ to be draped in gems, so says investment exec-turned-jewelry designer Robin Fitzwilson. Which is why she creates pieces like the fabulous $70 Echo necklace, layers of gold culminating in an asymmetrically placed chain chandelier. Fitzwilson keeps her just-launched line of jewels reasonable by using gold-filled chains, often paired with semiprecious stones. Phat, indeed. modernadornment.com
