At this point, singing the praises of downtown Los Angeles feels like crying wolf. Million-dollar lofts and the promise of Ralphs aside, the parts are still a lot greater than the whole. That said, Library Bar is a very nice part. The books on its shelves were probably purchased by the yard and it's located next to, yep, the library, schtick that could killer lesser operations. However, this handsome bar has a stellar craftsman beer list, comfortable seats and no attitude. If you're hungry, the barkeep hands you a menu and a phone so you can place a delivery order from the Wolfgang Puck Gourmet Express next door. The Monaco beer taps were imported from France and are very nice to look at. It's the sort of place that makes you think about going downtown more often, which is probably the point.
Library Bar, 630 W. 6th St., corner of 6th and Hope streets. Parking and entrance on Hope.

A bar right next to the library ?! It's about time someone thought of this. PS I'm going to blog about this, too.
