Real wine education

Scott Torrence is a Christie's VP and wine specialist; he's also teaching a six-session Introduction To Wine course for UCLA Extension that covers everything from grape growing to service (and of course, tasting). Scott handles more rare wines than most of us will see in a lifetime; if you ever wanted to establish a baseline for your wine knowledge, this is it. Sept. 25-Oct. 30 from 6:30-9:30 pm, $425. (310) 825-9971

ABOUT DANA HARRIS
I'm the editor of Variety.com. I think soggy Caesars are a restaurant’s death rattle.
