Last night was the opening party for Gordon Ramsay at the London (the Hotel Formerly Known As the Wyndham Bel Age). The restaurant is so new that it still carried the scent of paint and varnish. By the end of the evening, that was no longer the case.

I’m never that interested in interior decoration, but I liked the style of whitewashed wood floors against pink, baby blue and white, with accents in black, silver and gold. There's something '70s about it, a style that teeters between sexy and tacky in a good way. And the couches were comfortable.
Not bad for what used to be a Russian restaurant that hosted drag-queen bingo nights. (Or something like that. I never went to the Bel Age.) Photos by Alex Berliner©Berliner Studio/BEImages

But really, that's not why you go to a party like this; you go to eat food that tastes best when unencumbered by price tags. Here, Ramsay comported himself admirably.
