Katsuya Hollywood is open; sushi nachos for all

Sam Nazarian/SBE continued his march on Hollywood last night with the launch of Katsuya Hollywood (the original is in Brentwood and there's supposed to be another to come in -- Glendale?).

My kind of place? Eh, like it matters. At a minimum, this is going to be the restaurant people go to before moving on to Area/LAX/Hyde; best-case scenario, it out-Kois Koi.

The sushi was very good (and, uh, plentiful -- I've never seen that much raw fish laid end to end. A little unnerving.), but no one's going here for the sushi, really. This well-heeled crowd-pleaser is unashamed of its chicken teriyaki, lobster dynamite and something that appeared to be chunks of raw tuna, avocado, wasabi and tobiko all mushed together like a chunky guacamole and spread on fried circles of wonton. Looked awful (sushi nachos?); tasted great.
