Christian McBride is the Best Bassist in Jazz
So why can't he get his acoustic or electric bands booked into Los Angeles, where he is the Philharmonic's creative chair for jazz? His is the sort of music that keeps jazz alive, but apparently only New Yorkers get to experience it.

Jazz is becoming a New York taste, like pastrami or angst. As cities become less focused on culture, and culture itself becomes all about demographics and money, it could hardly be otherwise. "America's music" no longer has much relevance to most of America.
