Fergie's Lady Lumps Save the Earth

Fergie I'm finding it hard to get excited over Saturday's Live Earth concerts. Never mind the importance of the message - there just is no real buzz regarding the acts and none of the stages are booked with anythign that even hints at "once in a lifetime." The planning appears more geared toward pulling off the logistical pipedream of one organization staging concerts on multiple continents in one 24-hour block rather than staging a 24-hour block of spectacular music.

Over in England, Lightspeed Research took a poll and found that 70% of people who are aware of Live Earth plan to watch the concerts. But then, after being asked to identify how they'll make changes in their lifestyles and who their favorite performers are, it's clear "You're Beautiful" is still getting a lot of play in automobiles driven on the left side of the road. Oh, and Black Eyed Peas hold a mysterious sway over their fans.

When given several options, re-using grocery bags was one, fans of James Blunt were quick to circle "recycle houehold items" (97%) but horrified at the idea of "using my car less" (only 38%). Foo Fighters fans are a mighty thirsty lot as only 39% of them offered to "reduce water consumption" but they'll gladly take a train or a bus (56%) to reduce their car use.

And somehow, fans of "Let's Get it Started" expect to respond like Stepford wives once they hear that anthem, immediately changing the way they treat the environment. Fergie's lumps save mankind! or at least 51% of the Black Eyed Peas fans polled said Live Earth will encourage them to do more to combat climate change. Foo Fighters fans are less inclined to play along; only 31% answered yes to the question.
