The New York Jets, who have spent the last 30-odd years breaking my heart despite bringing me occasional pangs of joy while seated in Section 115, are looking for singers to audition to sing the national anthem at a game this year. Gang Green, that's their nickname for you non-believers with no fondness for Namath, Klecko or Curtis, will be hosting the contest on Sunday at the Meadowlands.
According to the Jets website, the contest winner will perform the anthem will also have the opportunity to meet with a Columbia Records talent scout.
Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the first 105 contestants - 1050 AM is also a sponsor - to line up will have the opportunity to participate. Contestants will not be permitted to line up before 8 a.m.
