They should have called it "Night Of The Living Dead".

The Stones can still jam after 40+ years! Mick rocks!!!

Posted by: Bill | December 18, 2007 at 06:47 PM

It looks more like a documentary about Martin making a documentary about the Stones....YAAWN..........

Posted by: JBW | December 18, 2007 at 07:09 PM

I was at that show at the Beacon. Hands down best concert ever! Glad it was caught on tape. I am telling everyone to go see this film.

Posted by: BTM | December 18, 2007 at 07:53 PM

Love to read more intimidated gasps from Gen Xrs about "age." A timely p.s. Billboard this week announced the top grossing concert tours of 2007: 1) The Police with 56 yr old Sting. 2) Genesis with 56 yr old Phil Collins 4)63 yr old Rod Stewart. Boomer power lives on stage and in the audience!!!!

Posted by: JH | December 18, 2007 at 07:53 PM

Kind of sad, isn't it?

Posted by: Mitch | December 18, 2007 at 07:56 PM

there's something about this that's so fundamentally uncool and unhip that i can only watch this thinking that what i'm feeling watching this is probably how these guys felt like when the world thought that old glenn miller records were the hardest thing around.

...plus, it's just a bunch of old guys playing dress up and hanging out with jack white.

Posted by: Tom A | December 18, 2007 at 08:22 PM

The Stones are a stadium band. The little venue they used for ease of filming this pheauxumentary is too small for capturing the Stones essence.

Posted by: biffula | December 18, 2007 at 08:40 PM

Hanging out with Jack White? Jack White wants to hang with Dexter Romweber.
Stadium Band? No, really they do best in venues holding 3000 souls. They're a garage band made up of grandfathers. They do the stadium shows because that's the only way to make enough money to support their lifestyles.

Posted by: blaine J | December 18, 2007 at 08:49 PM

we can't question the Stones, the Stones question us.........

Posted by: strombolihead | December 18, 2007 at 09:01 PM

With all the "artists" coming out of "music" factories these days, it's no wonder young people have no taste for real lasting talent.

Posted by: Robert | December 18, 2007 at 09:10 PM

Kind of sad?? Actually, what's sad is the dearth of quality music today or music of any significance or lasting value. This generation has nothing in music but superficial excess and classless rock imitators. Jack White?? WTF

Posted by: Bluesmn25 | December 18, 2007 at 09:13 PM

The question I have is: how much control did Mick have over this production? Mick is a control freak business executive who sings. He probably wanted approval over every camera angle and big particpation on the front and back ends (insert pun here). Too bad we won't see any footage of what really went on when Mick and his lawyers took a meeting with Marty.

That said, the Stones are still a great band, as good as anything out there. Unfortunately, a lot of us can't afford the tix. (That also explains JH"s list of top grossing Boomer Bands - they're not measuring attendance, kids.)

I've heard Jack White with the White Stripes and the Racantours. He's a decent garage blues rock player, but if you want to see the best blues rock garage band of the last 50 years, scroll up. In a few years maybe he'll be able to start thinking about trying to do it as well as the Stones.

Posted by: glimmer | December 18, 2007 at 09:34 PM

will the baby boomer bonfire of the vanities ever burn out? ... the sad thing about vanity is, the deeper u get in it, the blinder you become to its increasing nakedness.. this is simply a bloated ego trip by 2 vessels so conceited that they've lost all ability to see its folly... 35 years ago when the stones were at least close to the edge, they wouldve thrown up at such sanctimonious tripe.. now they expect u to swallow the knife w/o at the very least getting the ramble.

Posted by: kelvinkloud | December 18, 2007 at 09:38 PM

The Stones 'ROCKED' back in '65, when I first saw them in a small London club....and they still ROCK today....42 yrs later.

They write their music & lyrics and perform better than most of these 'so-called' artists of today who are half their age and don't have a clue!!!

Posted by: Bruce | December 18, 2007 at 10:12 PM

Mick is funny with his arms flailing all over. I love the stones always have. but when I see Mick dancing I always think of what John Lennon said about him in the 70's. "I dont know why he dances around like a fag" rofl, John was always mad at Mick for ripping off sgt.peppers with satanic request.
the stones best period was 64-72.since then they have just rehashed subpar crap. sorry Mick

Posted by: Greg Hunt | December 19, 2007 at 12:38 AM

I hate it when anyone describes the current Stones as a "blues rock" band.

Despite what you've heard/read/imagined Keith and Mick were far more influenced by early soul and rockabilly artists than the blues greats.

It was Brian Jones who was the blues guy.

The Stones haven't recorded any true blues material since his death.

Where is Mick Taylor? The Stones were their best with Mick Taylor and he was definitely "black listed" into oblivion by Jagger. And who cares if the Clintons attended the concert? Does that sommehow validate the event?

Posted by: Joe | December 19, 2007 at 05:29 AM

This is going to be a fantastic film. The concert is a large part of it and it was one of the best shows of my life.
We're talking "dream concert"
I can not wait to see Christina Acguillera writhing around on stage again with Mick.
Oh man, that was so hot.
Sad but true, many cannot afford a Stones ticket but you can get what you want and see the Shine a Light movie!

Posted by: Michaelene | December 19, 2007 at 05:29 AM

It has Bill Clinton in it. That is enough to make not want to see it.

Posted by: KMF | December 19, 2007 at 05:50 AM

There were plenty of blues on Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street, etc...all records without Brian Jones.
And if you've only heard Jack White with the White Stripes and The Raconteurs, check out his stuff with The Go...and if you can find it his stuff with Goober and The Peas. A truly multi-dimensional musician/songwriter who may never achieve the fame of the Rolling Stones but has as much talent and creativity as they ever had..and don't get me wrong I love the Stones but am glad there are still guys like Jack White around.

Posted by: JohnnyBoy | December 19, 2007 at 06:09 AM

The Clintons why????? They come in and ruin all.... give all of us a break with the clitons no more of them please....

Posted by: Charlie | December 19, 2007 at 06:21 AM

All I can say is anyone who thinks the Stones are less than great hasn't seen them live. I was at the Churchill Downs show last year, one of the best shows I've ever seen, and I've seen alot.

First saw the Stones in 1966 at the Odeon in Birmingham, England. Brian was with them along with a little band featuring Jeff Beck and a young Eric Clapton called The Yardbirds and a very exciting Ike & Tina Turner & THe Iketts... third row seats for 1 pound (about $4.00 at the time)

Stones were the first band I ever saw that actually sounded better live than the original record.

Forget about the age and the wear and tear these guys exhibit... shut your eyes and listen to the music... magic!

Boomer music still rules. Adding to the top grossing concerts we still have other equally talented bands in their 50's ... Yes, The Who, Zeppelin and even our very own Eagles.

Someone, please name 3 current generation acts that will survive multiple decades?
