The Freewheelin' Melinda Doolittle?
One of our favorite "American Idol" contestants, the oh-so-humble Melinda Doolittle, has her album ready for release on Feb.3. Having not had a chance to listen to the new disc, I am wondering how much of a throwback is it, especially when one considers the inspiration for the cover art. Or at least, what might have been the inspiration.
It's doubtful there's anything as brilliant as "Blowin' in the Wind" or "A Hard Rain's a Gonna Fall" but if there's one singer who could sustain the show on talent alone, Doolittle is the one.
More tidbits: “It’s Your Love” is the first single. Hi Fi Recordings is the label; Mike Mangini is the producer; it was recorded in Nashville and New York City. The label executives call it a "throwback to the classic soul albums of the 70’s with a modern twist."

Her single, It's Your Love, is available now on iTunes Plus and your 99-cents has never bought more musical joy! Melinda is the newest in the Retro Soul movement to create/re-create music for grown folks: from hard-driving, funky grooves and self-affirming anthems to slow-jam love songs and mellow torch songs. Melinda has made music for the ways we live and love. ;-)
