Avril Lavigne Loads The Skateboards On The Bus for '08 Tour

Avrill Avril Lavigne announced Tuesday afternoon a 32-date North American tour that starts March 5 in Victoria, B.C., Canada and winds up May 9 in Spokane, Wash.
Dubbed the "Best Damn Tour" - it's to support her third album, "Best Damn Thing" - venues range from arenas such as the Palace outside Detroit on March 22 to the Pearl in Las Vegas on April 29. The L.A. show is May 54 at Gibson Amphitheater;  she has yet to book a New York date.
Live Nation is booking the tour.
Lavigne announced the tour at the Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood before performing three songs acoustic - "Girlfriend," the new single "Hit" and "Sk8ter Boi" - with her new band.
"By having 10 singles I have a lot more to work with, which makes it easier for me," she said. "Playing the hits onstage is the most exciting (portion of the show)."
"Best Damn Thing" was released in April and has sold 1.23 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Since its release, Lavigne has been traveling internationally doing promotional dates.

Avril Talks About Her Art on A&E

Avril On Sunday, A&E will launch a show dedicated to musical performances and interviews. "Private Sessions" will open with Avril Lavigne, who probably won't disclose why her songs sound so much like other artists' work.
Filmed in  New York and hosted by Lynn Hoffman,upcoming editions include Goo Goo Dolls on July 29,  Toby Keith on Aug. 5,  Blues Traveler on Aug. 12 and Meat Loaf on Aug. 19. Nine additional episodes are planned for production this year.
