Dolly Parton was called into emergency service once again at the Ahmanson Theater.
At the opening of her musical "9 to 5," a problematic set failed to move into place about 40 minutes into the show. Parton, who spoke and sang when a breakdown occurred in a preview performance, used the 20 minutes spent to get things fixed for a few congratulatory speeches planned for the curtian call and to lead a singalong of her 28-year-old hit "9 to 5."
Parton was seated in a row in the middle of the orchestra with her cast members from the film - Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman - and after she was handed a microphone, went to town with compliments and wisecracks. She even scared an usher with an abrupt "what do you want?" when she was approached during her standup routine. Producers were visibly nervous during the unplanned break.   
It does pay off to have Parton in the audience: If the set could not be repaired she said she would take the stage and sing the entire show herself. Ah, promises, promises.

Dolly Parton got her promotional duties started on Friday with with a lunchtime appearance  at the House of Blues to discuss "9 to 5: The Musical," which will debut in L.A. at the Ahmanson.  At night, Parton drove up Sunset to the Roxy to deliver a half-hour set for radio contest winners celebrating the first anniversary of KKGO. Parton and her 11-piece band delivered the classics and the new tunes with aplomb. This week she will appear on "American Idol."

Dolly Parton, who recently postponed all of her appearances on the “Backwoods Barbie World Tour 2008/2009,” will perform at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip on March 28 for radio contest winners.
Parton will perform at KKGO's first birthday celebration. Tickets will be given out by the station and at DollyPartonMusic.net.

Dolly Parton  has re-set the dates for her tour in support of her "Dolly's Backwoods Barbie" album being released Feb. 26 on Dolly Records. She is likely to still be recuperating when SXSW hits where she was going to make a showcase appearance.

Dolly Parton will perform March 14 at the newly refurbished Austin City Music Hall as part of SXSW. BMI is partnering with SXSW on the show.
Parton's first mainstream country album in nearly two decades, "Backwoods Barbie," will be released  Feb. 26 on her new label, Dolly Records. First single is “Better Get To Livin’.”
Austin show is at the end of her U.S. string of dates that start Feb. 28 in Minneapolis. She heads to Europe in June and plans to return to the States for a fall-early winter tour.
