Emmy season, here we go ...

EmmyThe offseason between the Oscars and Emmys is so short as to barely be noticeable. And, the long and short of it is, that offseason is over now.

Variety is now in the full swing of planning its 2012 Emmy preview coverage. Though it will be most noticeable in print beginning June 6, when our first wave of daily feature sections pours through, you'll start seeing it online on a regular basis starting here and now. With a tip of the hat to Christy Grosz, who wielded this space with aplomb during the recently concluded Oscar season, I'll take the wheel of The Vote going forward – and am greatly looking forward to it.

My colleagues and I have lots of great stuff planned (and even more unplanned – gotta stay flexible) for the coming months. So get ready.

And by the way, we're hardly going to neglect the other awards during Emmy season, so film fans, don't you fret.

About

Christy GroszA native of Los Angeles raised by two parents and "Hill Street Blues," Jon Weisman ankled his scriptwriting career and began working for Variety in 2004, subsequently serving as associate editor of features and television reporter before becoming awards editor. He promises not to use this platform to retroactively campaign for Oscars for “The Misfits,” though he’d feel justified in doing so.
