Daytime Emmys and Critics Choice week begins
Seven days, three ceremonies — let's hit it.
-- Tonight brings the second-annual Critics Choice Television Awards, presented by the Broadcast Television Journalists Assn. The ceremony won't be televised, but it still has a fun batch of nominees — including some worthy choices you don't see on the Emmys. Eden Sher of "The Middle," above, was nominated for comedy supporting actress for the second year in a row.
-- Boosted by five kudos for "Sesame Street," PBS led all networks with 13 Daytime Emmys awarded at Sunday's Creative Arts ceremony. The remainder of the Daytime Emmys will be passed out Saturday.
-- The Tony Awards have added 16 names to their 42-member nominating committee, reports Gold Derby.

A native of Los Angeles raised by two parents and "Hill Street Blues," Jon Weisman ankled his scriptwriting career and began working for Variety in 2004, subsequently serving as associate editor of features and television reporter before becoming awards editor. He promises not to use this platform to retroactively campaign for Oscars for “The Misfits,” though he’d feel justified in doing so.
