Road to the Emmys: Tombs with a view
With memorable TV characters were dropping like flies this year, Robert Abele talked to showrunners about how they handled the difficult decisions to kill them off in the lead piece for the Variety Road to the Emmys: Drama section.
"The easy thing would have been to figure out a way to keep Jimmy alive because he's a fun character," "Boardwalk Empire" showrunner Terence Winter said. "But I always say to the writers, 'Let's make it harder on ourselves, not easier.'"

He promises not to use this platform to retroactively campaign for Oscars for “The Misfits,” though he’d feel justified in doing so.
