Requests for paper Oscar ballots due Dec. 14
The deadline for Oscar voters choosing to use paper ballots instead of switching to electronic voting has been extended from Nov. 30 to Dec. 14. This is being done to ensure that all Academy members fully understand all the voting options that are available to them this year.
“In past years, once our members paid their dues, they would automatically be sent a ballot at the appropriate time,” AMPAS COO Ric Robertson said. “With the introduction of electronic voting this year, members must either register to vote electronically or request a paper ballot. We’re extending the deadline for requesting paper ballots to make completely sure that no member who prefers this method misses the boat.”
AMPAS said that the majority of Academy members have already registered to vote online, and that online registration remains open through Jan. 2, the day before ballots are due. The Academy plans to offer assisted voting stations in Los Angeles, New York and London, as well as a 24-hour support call center during voting periods.

He promises not to use this platform to retroactively campaign for Oscars for “The Misfits,” though he’d feel justified in doing so.
